What is Orchestrated Chaos?

Orchestrated Chaos
is a free, not-for-profit and ad-free Dir en grey translation site. It’s wholly owned and operated by Dir en grey fans for English-speaking fans. The translations are, for the most part, done in-house, by the site staff, though we accept article and translation contributions from other members and visitors.

Our purpose is simple:
1. We want to spread the word about Dir en grey. We are fans, and we want the world to know as much about them as possible. So we open up our magazine and article archives, and translate as much information as we can into English. We want to show them as they were, as they are, and as they become something new. And so we translate old interviews, showing their youthful, fun side, as well as their new, polished, seasoned professionalism.

2. We want to provide accurate information. Even with extensive touring overseas, Dir en grey is a Japanese band, and the amount of information and history that passed before they turned their attention to the global market is vast. We want to bring that information to light, so that English speakers can know all the truth that we are allowed to know. We hope that we can show the band as accurately as possible, and perhaps dispel some mistranslations, misunderstandings, and misapprehensions along the way.

3. We want to provide unbiased information. As much as possible, we keep our dogs out of this hunt. Our job is to tell you what the band has told the Japanese-speaking world. We try to keep our personal feelings, beliefs and opinions out of the translations. As a result, we translate content that is officially published and released by Free-will, Sun-krad, other companies related directly to Dir en grey, or other official media sources.

4. We want to provide a fun community of goodwill and camaraderie among fans of all backgrounds. We don’t have forums, as we feel that it would drift too far from our core purpose, and our comment threads are carefully moderated. We love our community members, and hope that our interactive features such as contests are enjoyable. We ask only that you all be kind to each other. Our hope is that this site becomes a storehouse of information about this band. We also hope that we can in some small way help support Dir en grey with their vision of reaching to a more global audience through music.
